Dandelion ~Wishes Brought to You~ Review

Dandelion is an older Otome created by Cheritz, the same company as the well-loved games Mystic Messenger and Nameless. Honestly, pretty much any game that Cheritz makes is practically guaranteed to be good.

Interestingly, it is revealed in Nameless, that Dandelion and Nameless happen simultaneously in the same universe. The mystery character reappears with his initial role. So I recommend checking out Nameless after playing~

Storyline:
The story centers around a girl, named Heejung, who lives in Busan for college. Her life centers around her studies and feels academic pressure from her mother (it highlights the pressure placed on students in Korea). One morning, she wakes up to find a basket of 3 rabbits and 2 cats. Left with no other choice, she begins to take care of them. One day, the boys turn into a human form, revealing that they originated from another world on a contract and that she was chosen (by the mystery character) to determine who will 'win' (the winner gets their wish granted). From this point on, you can begin your romantic adverture~

This game is set up in, what I like to call, a point and click style, meaning that besides the general visual novel aspect, you must also satisfy the needs of the character. Honestly, I'm not generally the biggest fan of point and click otomes, because I just want to know what happens next, and I don't necessarily care for having to relieve the main character's stress and improving certain abilities/attributes to impress the romantic interest. However, I was able to overlook this in this game.

If you play the game: Remember that you need to increase the characters relationship point all the way even while they are in animal form to unlock all parts of the story! Also, keep in mind that for some characters routes, you need to be mindful which characters you have hearts on- some needs hearts on other characters for the good ending while on other you cannot have any.

Overall Review:
The storyline and art seem relatively cute on the outside. However, don't let that deceive you- there are deeper and sad elements to every storyline. The further into the story, the more emotionally gripping it becomes. I mean... if they were so desperate to get a wish granted that they are participating in the 'game', there has to be a reasoning behind it.  Not only does your heart ache after completing a storyline, but through watching their interactions with other characters you are left curious about the other characters. Because of this, I couldn't stop myself playing once I began haha.

My only complaints are that there are a few technical issues, such as being unable to place the game into full-screen mode (maybe it's just my computer though- I ended up just physically expanding the game with my mouse) and that there are some text mistakes here and there. Also, on some storylines, I completed the requirements early, so I grew impatient with seeing the next part of the story, but it's generally worth the wait.

Overall, I really recommend this game, just have your heart prepared beforehand (the characters with the heaviest storylines are not always predictable). If your not a fan of point and click style games, I can understand, however, please give this game a chance. I struggled to get into it the first few months in-game due to this, but being patient with it really pays off later.
